When you think about security hardware, beautiful design is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. Secure, yes. Reliable, absolutely. But beautiful? That’s never really been part of the brief…until now.
We are proud to announce that Ryder One has been awarded the Red Dot Product Design Award, one of the most prestigious design honors in the world.
The Red Dot Award has been setting the benchmark for exceptional design since 1955. Every year, thousands of products from over across the world compete for Red Dot’s recognition. An international jury of hundreds of design experts evaluates each entry on innovation, functionality, quality, and ergonomics. The list of previous winners include Ferrari, Porsche, Dyson, and Apple, amongst others.
Out of the thousands of submissions, a tiny fraction of entries win. Ryder One is one of them.
Winning the Red Dot was never the main objective. It was the outcome of a design process that started with a question: why does security hardware have to look and feel like it was built only for engineers?
To answer that question, we brought in award-winning designer and Japan-based artist Ray Horacek. Ray set out to build something beyond esthetics. It was to explore the contrast between human and technology and to find beauty in something built to be unbreakable.
The inspiration came from ancient rock forms and things that survived extreme conditions of heat, pressure, and trauma over millions of years. With this, you have Ryder One, which feels permanent, and feels like something worth protecting.
Eight months of clay iterations and prototyping later, the Ryder One you hold today was born.
The materials were chosen with the same intention as the form. Aluminum, glass, and polycarbonate. Each selected for durability, ideal weight, and temperature to give the warmth you feel when you hold it. Nothing about Ryder One is accidental.
Beneath the surface, the same principles apply.
Ryder One is fully air-gapped and your keys are never exposed to the internet. No cables, bluetooth, and no Wi-Fi. Every interaction with your wallet is done intentionally, physically, and locally through NFC by design.
At its core sits an EAL6+ secure element, the same level of tamper resistance used in national ID systems and banking infrastructure. Even if someone physically obtains your device, they cannot access your keys.
