I forgot my passcode
If you've forgotten your PIN, your funds are still safe — as long as you have your Recovery Tag and your phone. You can't recover the PIN itself, but you can wipe the device and restore your wallet. Here's how.
Why PINs can't be recovered
Your PIN protects physical access to your Ryder One. If Ryder (or anyone else) could reset it remotely, that would defeat the purpose of a hardware wallet. The PIN exists only on your device — no one can recover it for you. This is also why your funds stay safe even if your device is stolen.
What to do
Option 1: Let the device wipe itself
After 10 incorrect PIN attempts, your Ryder One automatically performs a factory reset. Once wiped, follow the How to recover your wallet on a new Ryder One guide to restore access.
Option 2: Manually factory reset
If you'd rather not enter incorrect PINs repeatedly, you can factory reset the device directly by going to the menu of your Ryder One, then Settings -> Erase Ryder One.
Once wiped, follow the How to recover your wallet on a new Ryder One guide to restore access.
Before you reset
Make sure you have:
- At least one Recovery Tag
- Access to the cloud account (iCloud or Google Drive) where your phone backup is stored
- The Ryder app installed on your phone
If you're missing any of these, stop and contact Ryder support before resetting. Once the device is wiped, recovery is only possible with your backup pieces.
