How to verify your Ryder One is authentic

Before you set up your Ryder One, take a moment to confirm it's genuine. Ryder One has two built-in authenticity checks that happen during your very first interaction with the device — no manual steps required. This protects you against supply-chain tampering, a rare but real risk where a device is intercepted and modified before reaching you.

Check 1: The welcome screen on first power-on

When you turn on your Ryder One for the very first time, you should see a welcome screen asking you to unlock the device and set a passcode.

If you see this, you're good. This is the expected behavior of a brand-new, untouched device.

If you do NOT see the welcome screen — for example, if the device is already unlocked, a passcode is already set, or a wallet appears to already exist — stop immediately. Do not interact with the device any further and contact Ryder support at support@ryder.id

A pre-configured device is a major red flag for tampering.

Check 2: Authenticity verification during setup

The most important authenticity check happens during setup, when you tap your phone against your Ryder One for the first time via NFC.

During this first tap, the Ryder app cryptographically verifies the device. Only a genuine Ryder One can pass this check. A counterfeit or modified device will be rejected and cannot proceed with setup.

If the Ryder app reports that the device cannot be verified, do not continue setup. Contact Ryder support.

Only buy from official sources

The safest way to guarantee an authentic Ryder One is to buy directly from:

Avoid marketplaces like eBay, Amazon third-party sellers, or unknown resellers. A "deal" on a hardware wallet is never worth the risk — a tampered device can drain your funds the moment you set it up.

If something seems wrong

Trust your instincts. If the welcome screen doesn't appear, the NFC verification fails, or anything about the device behaves unexpectedly, stop and contact Ryder support at support@ryder.id We'd much rather replace a device than have you lose funds.
