We know you’ve been eagerly awaiting a shipping announcement. Here’s our March Backer Update, which details the updated shipping timeline, reasons for it, Ryder’s manufacturing process, our upcoming beta tester program which you can be a part of, and your requests for additional recovery tags!
As announced in our previous updates, our team decided to spend extra time for a few more adjustments to the internals of the product before ordering the production tooling. We improved the wireless charging feature, the heat management, and the internals for an easier assembly process. This extra time spent on these last refinements was decided with one goal in mind: to deliver a product that meets our high quality standards. Unfortunately, the extra time spent also means that we will be delaying the shipment by 3 months from the initial delivery schedule. We will start production in July and start shipping on the first week of August.
A few weeks ago we told you that we finalised the last discussions with our mold fabrication vendor. Today, we reached a critical milestone: we ordered them! These are the production toolings for mass production which include our plastic injection molds, production jigs and fixtures. This is a critical milestone for any hardware company, as it is the biggest manufacturing expense and it is challenging to adjust later. We couldn’t have done it without you - thank you all again!
We're looking for additional members to our private group for early access to our developer devices. This initiative is designed to closely involve our community in the final stages of Ryder One's development, specifically in refining the user experience.
